Research interests: Applied Chemistry with particular interest in renewable organic synthesis and oleochemistry.

Brief Biography

Prof. Cecilia Olufunke Akintayo obtained B.Tech Industrial chemistry in 1995 and PhD Industrial Chemistry in 2005. She started her career as an assistant Lecturer in 1997 and rose up the ladder as an associate Professor in 2012. Three years later, she became a full Professor of Industrial chemistry in Federal University, Oye Ekiti. She undertook Postdoctoral work in Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Potsdam, Potsdam, and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany btween 2009 and 2011 under the auspices of the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship. She has standing collaboration with Prof (Dr) Mike Meier of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology till date. Prof Cecilia Olufunke Akintayo is also a Schlumberger factulty for the future fellowship and has visited Chemistry Department, Syracuse University, Syracuse New York, United State of America for a postdoctoral research in collaboration with Prof Daniel Clark. She has published about thirty articles in international peer reviewed journals.

Professor Ceilia Olufunke Akintayo has won several research grants including; International Foundation of Science Grants (IFS), Third World Academic of Science Grants (TWAS) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) research Grants.

She had served at the university in various capacities; she is the immediate past Head of Department, Industrial Chemistry, Federal University, Oye Ekiti. Currently, Professor C. O. Akintayo is the Director of Academic Planning, Federal University, Oye Ekiti.
